Environment Programs

TEEED trains students of Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul and other students from various schools and colleges in Sanitary Inspector practical course. The students are trained in the following areas:

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not just about cleanliness. It is also about health care. Keeping our surroundings clean and stopping open defecation are the simplest measures of avoiding spread of communicable diseases. Most communicable diseases are water borne. If we drink clean water and keep ourselves clean, we can avoid a lot of diseases. TEEED is carrying out Swachh Bharat Programs in Madurai East Panchayat Union, Madurai district

One of the great advantages of training as a tool for motivating employees is that it creates multiple benefits for both employee and employer. In addition to the employee feeling more engaged and thus more motivated, that employee also gains new skills. At the same time, the employer benefits not just from a more motivated employee but also from one who is now better equipped to perform their duties. Realizing this need, TEEED is conducting motivational sessions for Corporate Employees of Madurai and the neighbouring districts. This has brought tremendous changes in the attitude of the corporate employees. They have increased positive attitude in the work place.

Environmental awareness proves important for several reasons; it fosters a sense of connection to the natural world, promotes sustainable development and encourages conservation of irreplaceable natural resources and vulnerable plant and animal species.

The need to spread environmental awareness is enormous in the context of successfully addressing environmental problems. It is linked to environmental education.

On the one hand, provision of environmental education creates greater awareness in individuals and communities with respect to putting environmental resources to use even while conserving them. On the other hand, greater environmental awareness increases the scope of environmental education—as a discipline as well as inclusion of aspects of it within the scope of other disciplines.

Global warming, air and water pollution, overuse of fertilizers, the negative implication of use of plastics and polythene, conservation of energy and fuel resources, all these are topics of current media debate.

Realizing this need, TEEED is conducting environmental awareness programmes in our target areas benefiting the women and children and the farming community.

Solid waste is the unwanted or useless solid materials generated from combined residential, industrial and commercial activities in a given area. It may be categorised according to its origin (domestic, industrial, commercial, construction or institutional); according to its contents (organic material, glass, metal, plastic paper etc); or according to hazard potential (toxic, non-toxin, flammable, radioactive, infectious etc). Management of solid waste reduces or eliminates adverse impacts on the environment and human health and supports economic development and improved quality of life. A number of processes are involved in effectively managing waste for a municipality. These include monitoring, collection, transport, processing, recycling and disposal.

TEEED is giving awareness and training on Solid Waste Management to SHGs women in Madurai district. The training has paved people to dispose their waste safely and productively.
